Dermot’s Blog: Inspiration

unnamed (4)

This time of year is always full of inspiration – the leaves are falling, schools and universities have gone back, the days are drawing in and there are huge amounts of festivities to look forward to.

Autumn is a season of change.

We’re hoping that if you are a writer and are looking to make a step change in your practice and ambition Street Voices 9 might be the change that you’re looking for. Very pleased that we’ve engaged Leon Fleming to be the lead tutor on the course. Leon comes with a wealth of experience and drive that will allow those who are on the course to change and refine the way in which they make the work that they do.

The course offers those writers who have some level of experience six months to work with Leon and guests to create a piece that will be performed by actors in the spring at the culmination of the course.

Street Voices alumni include Ben Tagoe, Chris O’Connor, Kat Rose Martin, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Hafsah Naib, Nuzhat Ali amongst many others could you be amongst them?

The call for participation is live now as is the new writers database.

We’re actively planning for BD(News)Stories as trailed in my last blog – we’ll update when plans have been confirmed.

If you want to see some great theatre in Bradford over the coming weeks we heartily recommend Cashy C’s: The Musical (if you can find a ticket!) by the brilliant Kirsty Taylor and Kat Rose Martin’s new play Pick n Mix directed by our former co-artistic director Alex Chisholm

Keep looking for those opportunities to have your voice heard – if we can help please do get in touch, Freedom Studios is OUR company!

Till next month…
