Freedom Studios appoints new Creative Lead

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Graeme Thompson as the new Creative Lead. Graeme joins us after working as Executive Producer at Live Theatre in Newcastle and brings with him his experience as a dramaturg, producer and director with a reputation for creating world-class creative programmes.

We have also just been awarded Transition Programme funding from Arts Council England, following the announcement that we will be leaving the Arts Council England National Portfolio from April 2023. The funding will enable Graeme to lead the company through a new phase of development in response to the flourishing cultural life of Bradford and the abundant creative opportunities for the company.

Incoming Creative Lead, Graeme Thompson says, “It’s a huge privilege to be joining Freedom Studios as Creative Lead and to build upon the success the company has had to date. We certainly live in challenging times, but with that does come opportunity and I am excited to get to work with the company and artist community of Bradford to take the next steps in Freedom Studios journey.”

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Anj Handa says, “We are delighted that Graeme will be joining Freedom Studios to lead the company into its next chapter. He has a track record of developing, managing and delivering similar programmes to that of Freedom Studios. His experience of developing a place-based organisation with regional focus and strong partnerships, while still maintaining a national and international framework, will be invaluable.”
