Freedom Studios Associate Writer Showcase

We’re delighted to be teaming up with Bradford Literature Festival to showcase the talents of three new local writers. Come along to enjoy these 20 minutes pieces from strong new voices and chat to us afterwards.

Writer and journalist Aina Khan presents a play set in 1980s Bradford, in which a group of cousins get together while their parents are away, but the unexpected appearance of their grandmother leads to scenes of cultural conflict.

Actor, broadcaster and writer Anil Bharath’s work explores the pressures faced by young South Asian men to get a good job and be a good boy, often to the detriment of their mental health.

Writer and poet Asma Elbadawi performs her play following the lives of a women’s basketball team; training together and being best friends doesn’t mean you know everything about each other.
