Summer School 2018

Throughout the Freedom Studios Summer School 2018, 20 young people between the ages of 11 – 16 years will be playfully exploring theatre and film.

These day’s young people have filmmaking equipment at their fingertips. Aren’t we all Spielberg s with an iPhone! So we are going to be making films using the equipment we carry around in our pockets (sometimes they are the best cameras available anyway!) This way, Freedom Studios Summer School participants can take their fantastic new film making skills and make Summer 2018 the Summer of Film!

Theatre practitioners, Natalie Davies and Natalie Quatermass (AKA Small Nat and Tall Nat!) will be leading workshops in story development, character acting and creative devising. Film-maker and director Dermot Daly is going to be leading workshops that ask questions such as, ‘How are films constructed?’ ‘What makes a photograph beautiful?’ ‘What’s the difference of a wide shot, a medium shot and close up?” Oh, and did I mention we will be playing lots and lots of games!?

Summer Camp participants will have the chance to form small ‘Film Production Companies’ and make their own films in various locations around Bradford! We will also edit our films and learn about what goes into ‘post production.’ If all goes well, we may even have our very own Freedom Studios Summer School Film Premiere! (I’ll get the popcorn!)

Please note that places on the Summer Camp will be given out based on the first 20 registration forms to be received at The Freedom Studios, therefore please fill out this form in full and return to Freedom Studios, 7 Manor Row, Bradford BD1 4PB as soon as possible. We will not accept registration forms after 31^st July. We will contact you via email to confirm your place and with further Summer School details as soon as we have received your completed registration form.
